ELISHA GEORGE GILLILAND
Elisha George Gilliland 90, retired farmer, of rural Hiattville, died
Saturday at 2 P. M. at his home. His death followed a week illness.
Mr. Gilliland was born in Pheips1 Missouri on Jan. 7, 1870, son of
Josiah and Caroline Coleman Gilliland.
Mr. Gilliland is the last of his family, of ten children.
He was united in marriage to Della McDougall, Sept. 20, 1898, at
Auburn, Nebraska.
Surviving besides the wife of the home, are six children: Austin
Gilliland, South Gate, Calif.; Mrs. Roy Beasley, (Nellie) Long Beach,
Calif.; Dean Gilliland, Sarcoxie, Mo.; Otis Gilliland, Wichita, Kans.;
Mrs. Bill McCurry, (Ruth) Parsons, Kansas.; and Galen Gilliland,
Hepler, Kans. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, and 6 great
grandchildren. One son (Grove) passed away in 1953.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 2 P. M. at the Hiattville Methodist
Church, with the Rev. Mrs. P.E. Reade, officiating.
Interment will be in the Hiattville Cemetary. Earl's Memorial Home is
in charge of the services.

Funeral services for Elisha George Gilliland, 90, retired farmer of
the Hiattville vicinity, who died last Saturday, were held in the
Hiattville Methodist Church, at 2 P. M. Tuesday, with the Rev. Mrs.
P.E. Reade, officiating.
Music was furnished by David Freeman accompanied by Mrs. Edward
Dalton, Organist.
Pallbearers were, Sidney Ellis, Henry Baker, Bob Chambers, Archie
Simhiser, Earl Endicott, and Don Salmon.
Interment was in the Hiattville Cemetary.
Earl's Memorial Home was in charge of the services.

General Notes: Ernest Leslie Gilliland, age seventy-seven, passed away at his home about 4:00 pm last Thursday, January 24, 1957, following a heart attack. Mr. Gilliland had been in poor health for several years and apparently seemed about as well as usual that day, and his death was unexpected.
He was the son of Josiah and Carrie Gilliland. He was born May 18, 1879, on a farm in the Providence community, across the line in Nemaha county, north of Humboldt, Nebraska. He grew up there and was married April 4, 1906, to Stella Leech, of the neighboring Pleasant View community.
They began farming near Stella, Nebraska and then lived a number of places before moving back to a farm in the Pleasant View neighborhood in 1923. They continued to live there until 1944 when they moved into Humboldt, Nebraska, when he retired from farming.
Mr. Gilliland had a pleasing personality and a hearty greeting for everyone he met. His cheery smile will not only be missed in the home but in the neighborhood where he lived as well as among his many friends.
He is survived by his wife and by three sons, C. M. Gilliland and Lyle Gilliland of the Humboldt area; Eldon Gilliland, Table Rock; and by one brother, E. G. Gilliland, Hepler, Kansas. Eight grandchildren also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church, with Rev. T. R. Whiddon officiating. Miss Norma Mehlin sang "Rock of Ages", "Beyound the Sunset" and "Prayer Perfect" with Mrs. Friel Kerns as her accompanist.
The many floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. Jesse Arington, Mrs. Clara Farwell and Mrs. Albert Rausch.
The pallbearers were:- Don Mathews, Guy Cooper, Jr., Elvon Stalder, John Crooker, Eugene Masonbrink and G. C. Bennett.
